(Not) Dead

A painting show by myself and Izzy Cho

What is painting? Why is painting often epitomized as The Art Form? Should you feel bad if you don’t “get” that painting that looks like splatters? (Not) Dead is a show that lovingly makes the art world the butt of our joke, satirizing painting and its dichotomy of elitist inaccessibility yet ubiquity within our popular culture. We cannot guarantee that this show is (not) something your five-year-old could make.

Painting has been declared dead innumerable times: In 1839 it was after of the invention of photography, in 1917 when Marcel Duchamp submitted a urinal to an art show, and many more since.

But have we ever taken a moment to grieve this loss?
